The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works has developed a new class of electric locomotive WAP-7, known as the Head on Generation, which would supply electrical power for its AC coaches.

This innovation by the production unit of the Railways will be of use to long-distance AC trains, which have two separate diesel generator power cars to provide electricity for air-conditioning, lighting and charging points of all coaches.
