Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed Vice-President of The India Cements Ltd. (ICL)
Until recently, Mr. Dhoni was an employee of the national carrier Air India.
N. Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman of ICL, told this correspondent that it had been the character of the company to employ cricketers. “We have been doing it for long,” he said. In this context, he pointed to Rahul Dravid. The former captain of Indian cricket team has been a long-serving employee of The India Cements. To a query, Mr. Srinivasan said sportsmen required security post their playing careers.
ICL is the owner of the IPL (Indian Premier League) team Chennai Super Kings, and Mr. Dhoni has been its captain since the first edition of IPL.
In the wake of his induction into the company, Mr. Dhoni has also been included in The India Cements’ squad for corporate tournament of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).

Collaboration between Dhoni and Srinivasan has now come out in the open justifying the earlier accusations that it was Srinivasan who had resisted and blocked the sacking of Dhoni as a skipper for his continuous failures on the field of Indian team.
it is totally wrong. Without knowing single word in business, how Dhoni
can work as a VP in India Cements? Every employee of the company will
demoralised because of the unprofessional approach. you can give hefty
prizes, recognitions to cricketers..no probs. but dont give industrial
status, padma awards...there are lot of deserved people are refused in
the state.
Some one who makes 100 plus crores a year needs job security??
Absolutely not acceptable!!!Dhoni doesnt deserve it!What message is
the company trying to send? Leave the cricketers alone..They are
making enough money anyways!! Let the job go to a deserving person!!!
A huge Conflict of Interests! But who cares about ethics, morality and
propriety these days. Its all CHALTA HAI attitude.
When I grew up, cricketers used to play only cricket and I loved
it. Nowadays they are playing politician, businessman, dancer,
comedian, news anchor etc.
Ha !! N Srinivasan - BCCI Secretary, owner of India cements and IPL team CSK . MS Dhoni - Test, T20, ODI captain + captain of IPL team CSK, + Vice President of India cements !!! So Dhoni has same boss in all three jobs !!
Only in India is such a thing happening - aren't these so called players making enough money through endorsements and based on the contract they have with BCCI?. How do you think a person who by dint of hard work and by the sweat of his/her brow makes it to the VP position, only to see the least qualified occupying the same post?. Disgraceful and totally undeserved to say the least!!
