Education and placement company EdServ has landed a five-year Government training deal with Gujarat.

It has just inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Gujarat Government. Under the MoU, EdServ is empowered to set up and run three skill extension centres in Kheralu (Mehsana district), Gondal and Aji (Rajkot district) in Gujarat.

EdServ will provide need-based, industry-responsive managerially and technically competent manpower by setting up and training youth at skill upgradation centres (SUCs) at GIDC estates/industrial cluster/SEZs, skill development centres for short-term bridge courses under PPP (public-private partnership) mode and specialized skill development centres for niche trades. EdServ will also provide sector-specific skill development training in industries such as textiles and apparels, gems and jewellery.

While the Government will invest in these centres on infrastructure, EdServ will develop the content, recruit and provide training as well as placement assistance. The training programme is expected to kick off in January next.

“Coming on the back of the vocational training provider (VTP) status that we were awarded by the Ministry Labour & Employment, this deal with the Gujarat Government reiterates our growing presence in the government training space. Going forward, the government educational relationships in their vocational training initiatives will be one of the key business drivers for EdServ,” a release quoted S. Giridharan, Chairman and CEO, EdServ, as saying.
