Tata Chemicals Ltd. on Friday reported consolidated net profit of Rs. 238.12 crore for the quarter ended December 31.
It had posted net loss of Rs. 15.93 crore in the October-December period of last fiscal.
The company’s total income increased by 5 per cent to Rs. 4,844.72 crore in the third quarter of this fiscal from Rs. 4,599.32 crore in the year-ago period, Tata Chemicals said in a filing to the BSE.
Finance cost declined to Rs. 119.41 crore from Rs. 165.63 crore, while tax expenses reduced to Rs. 85.59 crore from Rs. 92.61 crore during the period under review.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Tata Chemicals Ltd. is engaged in the manufacturing of chemicals, fertilisers and iodised salt among others. It is also into nanotechnology-based water purifier business.
The company is the world’s second largest producer of soda ash with manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.
Through its subsidiary Rallis, Tata Chemicals has a strong position in the crop protection business.
