German auto giant Mercedes-Benz, on Tuesday, introduced its most powerful sports utility vehicle (SUV), the GL 63 AMG, in India.
The GL 63 AMG has a 5.5 litre V8 biturbo engine which has a maximum torque of 760 Nm and a top speed of 250 km/hour.
A statement from Mercedes-Benz India said the vehicle is priced at Rs. 1.66 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). The super-powered vehicle does the 0-100 km/hour sprint in 4.9 seconds.
The vehicle comes with enhanced features such as the AMG SPeedshiftplus 7G-Tronic, with three modes – controlled efficiency, sports and manual.
It also boasts of AMG Ride Control sports suspension with Airmatic package consisting of air suspension, special damper struts, automatic level control and Adaptive Damping System (ADS) and night view assist to enable safer night driving.
“It is one of the most revolutionary products to come from Mercedes-Benz, demonstrating the rich blend of sophistication with the latest design and technology,” Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said in a statement. “The GL 63 AMG is a testimony to our continued endeavour to offer a thrilling experience to our customers in India.”
Mercedes-Benz India closed 2013 with a 32 per cent growth, and was the fastest growing luxury car brand in India, with 45 per cent growth in the second-half of 2013. It started 2014 with a growth of 27 per cent in the first quarter.
