Italian super-luxury sports car maker Automobili Lamborghini, on Monday, said it expected to sell over 20 vehicles this year in the domestic market, aided by growing number of high net worth individuals (HNI).

“We will sell around 20-plus cars this year. In 2012, we sold 17 cars, and in 2011, we sold 15,” Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said while unveiling the company's first showroom here.

This is the company’s second dealership in the country, and it plans to add a third one in Bangalore for which it is now in discussion with a local partner.

In the domestic market, Lamborghini sells two model range — Gallardo and Aventador — which are priced between Rs.2.8 crore and Rs.6.30 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

“Customers in India are one of the youngest in our global markets, much younger than those in Europe,” he said.

Mr. Winkelmann, however, added that infrastructure and taxation were the major hurdles in the country.

“More Indian nationals buy our cars abroad, especially in Europe... Here in India, the traffic, road conditions are not so suitable,” he said.
