Future retail, the entity formed after the merger of fashion and retail conglomerate Future Group and Bharti retail is expanding its presence in the retail market through ‘Easyday.’

The company under the leadership of Kishore Biyani is taking the standard neighbourhood small store format to around 4,000 cities by 2020 as part of the expansion. This would be around eight-fold increase from the current numbers of 500. The company aims to open stores in smaller towns with population of less than 50,000 people.

“We are planning the biggest retail network expansion in the country. Under the Easyday brand we will reach towns with population less than 50,000. The aim is open to open 4,000 stores from the current 500,” said Kishore Biyani, Group CEO Future Group. After the completion of the merger Mr. Biyani was appointed as the Managing Director of Bharti Retail and two entities were formed. The front end is called as Future retail and the backend company as Future Enterprises.

New strategy

As per the new strategy, Future Retail which operates hypermarket stores Big Bazaar, retail stores Food Bazaar, electronic store eZone and home décor store HomeTown will be branded under Easyday.

“All the brands which operate under the front-end company Future Retail will be brought under one name Easyday,” added Mr. Biyani.

Apart from expanding the Easyday format, he also said, the hypermarket format Big Bazaar will go online within three months.

“We are ready to launch the e-version of Big Bazaar. With our retail experience and delivery channel we are sure that we will be profitable.”
