In the wake of the global economy showing no signs of recovery and with > China’s economy turning out to be weaker than previously expected, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet top business leaders, bankers and economists on Tuesday to discuss the impact on India.
As many as 27 business leaders, including Reliance Industries head Mukesh Ambani, Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry, Mahindra Group Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra and Aditya Birla Group head Kumar Mangalam Birla, have been invited to attend the meeting.
Besides, RBI Governor > Raghuram Rajan and Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya are also expected to be present.
Bharti Airtel chief Sunil Bharti Mittal, Essar Group head Shashi Ruia, Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani, Adani Group head Gautam Adani, ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and SBI Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya have also been invited. Heads of the industry chambers — Sumit Mazumder of CII, Jyotsna Suri of FICCI and Rana Kapoor of Assocham —will also be attending the meeting.
Additionally, Finance Secretary Ratan P Watal, Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia and Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian will be present at the meeting.
Each speaker will be given three minutes to make initial remarks.
