The New India Foundation has invited applications for the seventh round of the New India Fellowships. These are awarded to scholars and writers working on aspects of the history of independent India, their work culminating in the publication of books “that contribute to the fuller understanding of independent India.”
The foundation is ecumenical as regards subject and genre. The books could be on politics, economics, or culture, and may take the form of a memoir, a work of reportage, or a thickly footnoted academic study, a source said. The deadline for applying is June 30. Fellows will get Rs. 90,000 a month for a year.
