NDTV-Hindu's concert took the audience on a walk down melody lane

NDTV-Hindu's ‘Keys and Conversations ensemble' concert held recently at Taj Coromandel saw pianist and composer Anil Srinivasan, singers Srinivas and Sikkil Gurucharan, flautist Navin Iyer and percussionist B.S. Purushottam in great form.

The notes of the piano kept pace with the voice of Srinivas, who brought alive the magic of Talat mahmood, Ilaiyaraaja and Kishore Kumar. Srinivas was followed by Navin Iyer, who presented a Classical and semi-Classical repertoire. Next on centerstage was Carnatic vocalist Sikkil Gurucharan, whose collaborations with Anil are by now well-known. Gurucharan's rendition of Subramania Bharati's ‘Aasai Mugham' was moving, and the duo was joined on the kanjira by B.S. Purushotham. The concert ended on an instrumental note, with the pianist and flautist presenting the theme song from “Bombay”, composed by A.R. Rahman.
