Bhajan Samrat, a Sri Sankara TV initiative, had both children and adults showcasing their talent for Bhajan singing in every round. The competition has been drawing a great response ever since it was launched in December 2011. More than 200 groups participated in the auditions in the Coimbatore, Bangalore, Hubli, Thanjavur and Chennai zones.
The five best teams were chosen to compete for the Bhajan Samraat Grand Finale, which will be held on September 15 (tomorrow) at the Auditorium of Meenakshi College for Women, at 5 p.m. Four teams have qualified for the finals, and the channel is giving an opportunity to another deserving team, selected in the wild card round. The teams that will compete in the finals are Basaveshwara Bhajan Mandali, Dharwad; Melarcode Sisters, Palghat; G.K.Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Ambattur; Satguru Krupa Bhajan Mandali, Coimbatore, and Vishwa Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai.
The finals will be judged by Anup Jalota, Padmashri, Sudha Ragunathan and Sri K. S. Mallikarjuna Bhagavathar.
At the function, S. Narasimha Bhagavathar, P. Subbarama Bhagavathar, A. L. Krishnamurthy Bhagavathar, Ashwathnarayana Swamiji, Kalaimamani S. R. Krishnamurthy, E.K. Srinivasa Bhagavathar, R. Padmanabha Iyengar, Mahadeva Bhagavathar, Janakirama Bhagavathar, S. Venkateswaran Bhagavathar, Pichumani Bhagavathar and Sri Mallikarjuna Bhagavathar, will be honoured.
The event will be telecast live on Sri Sankara TV. The channel can also be viewed on web TV through Tata Sky / cable TV. Admission to the programme is free.
