Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan powered into his maiden ATP Tour final as he beat Tim Smyczek of the US 6-4, 7-5 in the $623,710 Hall of Fame tennis tournament here.

The 23-year-old became only the second Indian after Somdev Devvarman in 2011 to make an ATP final. Somdev had lost to Kevin Anderson in Johannesburg in that final.

The good run has fetched Ramkumar a direct entry for the $748,450 ATP Tour event in Atlanta, in which the last direct acceptance was ranked 105.

In the $15,000 ITF women’s event in Jakarta, National champion Mahak Jain was beaten 6-4, 6-1 by Arianne Hartono of the Netherlands in the final.
