With her unique chopping style of play, third seed Natalija Kostic of Serbia won the Bhavna Swarup $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament on the grass courts of the Services Club on Saturday.

Natalija led 6-2, 3-1 when fourth seed Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia, who had endured a string of tough matches earlier, retired.

While Kostic, with her sharp serve and imaginative play, had not dropped more than six games in any of her matches in the tournament, Mihalikova had played three three-setters , including the one against Zeel Desai in the pre-quarterfinals.

Asian Games mixed doubles gold medallist Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia won the doubles title with Dan Ni Wang of China, as the duo pipped fourth-seeded Japanese Kyoka Okamura and Michika Ozeki.

The results (finals): Natalija Kostic (Srb) bt Tereza Mihalikova (Svk) 6-2, 3-1 (retd.). Doubles: Aldila Sutjiadi (Ina) & Dan Ni Wang (Chn) bt Kyoka Okamura & Michika Ozeki (Jpn) 7-6(6), 7-5 .
