Djokovic vs Murray match suspended

June 06, 2015 03:05 am | Updated November 17, 2021 11:07 am IST - PARIS:

The semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray was suspended late in the evening as a thunderstorm approached Roland Garros.

It was turning out to be a battle of attrition, with World No.1 Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 3-3 against the British third seed, but showing signs of fatigue towards the end, even requesting a medical time-out early in the fourth set.

Djokovic won the first set after breaking Murray for 5-3 and then serving the set out with an ace.

Djokovic broke twice in the second set — in the fifth and ninth games — to go two sets up.

But, as the sun started to fade, Murray came back into the match. The Briton, unbeaten on clay this season, fought back to take the third set with a break in the 11th game against a clearly tiring Djokovic.

The fourth set veered from one end to the other as Murray broke the Djokovic serve at love to lead 2-1, only for the World No.1 to break right back.

It was after Murray managed to hold for 3-3 from 15-40 down that the officials decided to suspend play for the day.
