Two-time finalist David Ferrer reached the quarterfinals of the Barcelona Open in just 44 minutes as Italian Simone Bolelli quit injured while trailing 6-0, 3-0.

The quick victory keeps eighth seed Ferrer alive at the event where he and seven other compatriots were playing matches in the third round on the clay of the Real club.

With Bolelli far from on form, it took number 17 Ferrer 25 minutes to sweep the one-way opening set and another 19 before the Italian called it a day.

The win lifted Ferrer to 3-0 in the series without the loss of a set and put him into a last-eight meeting with Brazilian 13th seed Thomas Bellucci, who put out Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 6-4.
