The Indian senior men’s and women’s table tennis teams will have a foreign coach sooner than later.

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), on Wednesday, sent two names to Sports Authority of India (SAI) for consideration. Speaking to The Hindu , M.P. Singh, secretary, TTFI, said it has shortlisted the names of Dejan Papic of Canada and Vladimir Meovic of Serbia to SAI.

It is reliably learnt that Papic would get the nod as Meovic, now coaching in Germany, is quite old (80 years).

India’s top paddler G. Sathiyan welcomed the development.

“Looking forward to working with whoever is the new coach and hope we can keep up the momentum.

“I hope everything is finalised as soon as possible,” Sathiyan said.
