Arpit bags gold in centre fire pistol

Shriyanka Sadangi caught up with eventual champion Charleen Baenisch of Germany in a dramatic fashion, but lost the shootoff for gold in women’s air rifle, after the two were tied on 249.9, in the International shooting championship on Saturday.

Olympian Ayonika Paul bagged the bronze medal, edging out Lajja Gauswami, while qualification topper Meghana Sajjanar (631.7) finished sixth ahead of Aayushi Gupta. The trio of Shriyanka, Vinita and Lajja clinched the team gold.

In the mixed team air pistol competition, P. Shri Nivetha and Amanpreet Singh topped qualification with a total of 771, but had to be content with a bronze.

In centre fire pistol, Arpit Goel claimed the gold with 581, one point ahead of compatriot and Olympian Gurpreet Singh.

50m rifle prone: 1. Alexey Kleimyonov (Kaz) 249.1 (623.9); 2. Yuriy Yurkov (Kaz) 248.3 (625.1); 3. Lionel Cox (Bel) 228.1 (622.1); 5. Gagan Narang 185.7 (621.7).

Women: 10m air rifle: 1. Charleen Baenisch (Ger) 249.9(10.5) 629.9; 2. Shriyanka Sadangi 249.9(10.2) 628.4; 3. Ayonika Paul 228.7 (628.1); 4. Lajjja Gauswami 206.6 (627.9); 6. Meghana Sajjanar 163.6 (631.7); 7. Aayushi Gupta 142.8 (624.0); 11. Vinita Bhardwaj 622.9; 12. Pooja Ghatkar 622.9.

Mixed team air pistol: 1. France 477.8 (768); 2. France-1 476.4 (766); 3. India (Amanpreet Singh, P. Shri Nivetha 414.2 (771).
