Saranya holds Yuri Solodovnichenko

Chennai girl Woman FIDE Master J. Saranya held Grandmaster Yuri Solodovnichenko of Ukraine to a draw in the second round of the 10th Chennai Open International Grand Master chess tournament here on Friday.

On the leader-board with a 2/2 score were top seed G.M. Timur Gareyev of USA, who defeated Maharashtra girl Mrudul Dehenkar and Tiviakov, who scored over P. Bala Kannamma. Sharing the lead with the top seeds were GMs Tukhaev Adam, Vitaly Sivuk (both Ukraine), Tran Tuan Minh (Vietnam), Marat Dzhumaev (Uzbekistan), Roeland Pruijssers (Ned), Adam Horvath, Attila Czebe (both Hungary), Deepan Chakkravarthy and R. R. Laxman (both India) among others.
