Samyuktha emerges leader; four share lead in boys section

B.S. Samyuktha emerged sole leader in the girls' section with nine points after the 10th and penultimate round of the State under-7 chess championship here on Wednesday.

In the boys' category, four players shared the lead with eight points each.

K'puram posts win

Kancheepuram won a penalty shootout 3-1 against Ramanathapuram in a first round match of the senior State football championship at Sivanthipuram on Wednesday.

The teams were locked 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

Jagadeesan gave Kancheepuram the lead in the 16th minute.

Vivek equalised in the 66th minute and then put his team ahead three minutes later. But Kancheepuram drew parity through Jabasagayam in the 76th minute.

In the shootout, Johny, Balaji and Sathish scored for Kancheepuram, while Vivek netted for Ramanathapuram.
