The BRC Gloster National billiards and snooker championship was inaugurated by the Bengal Rowing Club president, Hemant Bangur, here on Saturday.

This was followed by the sub-junior (under-19) boys taking the centre stage in billiards. In a close contest, Rohit Yadav of Assam prevailed over Madhya Pradesh’s M. Hussain Khan 184-182.

Second seed S. Shrikrishna of Tamil Nadu was an impressive winner in the second round, beating Bengal’s Dhirendra Baid 431-81. The 14-year-old will be keen to showcase his talent and will take part in all the three sections: sub-juniors, juniors and seniors.
