Padmanabhan Sridhar and Keyzad Anklesaria clinched the title in the Shree Cements Matchpoint pairs event with a score of 59%, while Ms. Kiran Nadar and B. Satyanarayana finished second in the BFI winter Nationals here on Saturday.
Das and Naguri top
In the Ruia Silver final, the pair of Sukanta Das and Kamal Naguri topped with a score of 62.5%. Ms. Jeroo Mango and Ivan Alphonso of Mumbai finished runner-up.
Poddar Developers had beat Team NRK by a margin of 29 IMPs to win the Ruia Gold event on Friday.
In the ladies selection event, Bharti Dey and Vasanti Shah comfortably outclassed the opposition.
The other two pairs to qualify for the selection trials are Rupa Bakeri and Alka Kshirsagar, and Pooja Batra and Monica Jajoo.
The Chennai pair of Raksha Mehta and Sushi Natraj narrowly missed out on the qualifying berth.
The Rajsriya and Cholamandalam sponsored events were both won by the Chennai pair of K.R. Venkataraman and Nirmal Jain.
Ravi Sabherwal and H.S. Bhajoria, and Subir Das and B. Tewari finished second in these events respectively.
The final day (Dec. 16) will see more than 50 pairs compete for the mixed title, a newly introduced selection event.
