Mirabai claims another gold

S. Mirabai Chanu totalled 191kg to claim the women’s 49kg title in the Commonwealth weightlifting championships here on Tuesday.

Jhili Dalabehera (45kg) and S. Bindyarani Devi (55kg) among women and Ch. Rishikanta Singh (55kg) among men were the other Indians to win golds in the elite division.

The medallists:

Men: Elite: 55kg: Ch. Rishikanta Singh (105kg, 130kg, 235kg) gold.

Junior and Youth: 49kg: Bhaktaram Desti (77kg, 108kg, 185kg) gold.

Women: Elite: 45kg: Jhili Dalabehera (snatch 70kg, clean and jerk 94kg, total 154kg) gold; 49kg: S. Mirabai Chanu (84kg, 107kg, 191kg) gold; 55kg: S. Bindyarani Devi (78kg, 105kg, 183kg) gold; Matsa Santoshi (80kg, 102kg, 182kg) silver.

Junior: 45kg: Bornali Borah (55kg, 76kg, 131kg) gold; Sakshi Maske (58kg, 72kg, 130kg) silver; 55kg: Sneha Soren (73kg, 96kg, 169kg) silver; Saloni Singh (75kg, 88kg, 163kg) bronze.

Youth: 40kg: Soumya Devi (51kg, 58kg, 109kg) gold; Rekhamoni Gogoi (47kg, 59kg, 106kg) bronze.
