Girls’ final will see Prapti Sen take on Moumita Datta

Delhi’s Yashansh Malik will take on Jeet Chandra of Haryana in the title round of the youth boys’ singles category in the National-ranking (East Zone) table tennis championships here .

In the semifinals on Wednesday, Yashansh defeated Deepit Rajesh Patil of Maharashtra 4-2 while Jeet enjoyed a walkover from Delhi’s Payas Jain, who left for Poland to participate in the World Cadet Challenge.

Yashansh downed Deepit in a tense game as both matched each other’s strokes. The latter made some critical errors on crucial points to help his Delhi opponent enter the final. Earlier, Deepit upset top-seed Manush Shah of Gujarat 4-3 in a gruelling quarterfinal.

In the youth girls’ section West Bengal’s Prapti Sen will meet Moumita Datta of Railways in the title clash. The semifinals saw top-seeded Prapti and Moumita posting identical 4-1 wins, the former over Kaushani Nath and the later over her colleague Shruti Amrute.
