The All India Darts Association is hopeful of getting recognition from the Union Sports Ministry soon, according to its secretary Prasanta Saha. “There are a few technicalities remaining. We have sent all the documents. After the 2010 Commonwealth Games, there were a few problems; now, things seem to have settled down. We will be getting the recognition from the Ministry within six months to one year,” said Saha. He said the popularity of darts in India should be seen to be believed. “We conducted the National schools darts tournament in Kolkata from June 3-6, where more than 54 schools from 15 affiliated States took part. The turnout was encouraging,” he said. Saha felt the dart players from Tamil Nadu had a lot of potential, and he was confident that the current crop of junior players would become a force to reckon with in future. “A lot of junior players from Tamil Nadu showed promise in the national-ranking tournament held in Chennai,” he said.
He said some Tamil Nadu players could be among the probables for the 20th World Cup to be held in Antalya, Turkey from October 26 to 30.
