BTC team meets CM

June 05, 2017 09:37 pm | Updated November 11, 2017 12:15 pm IST - Bengaluru:

A delegation of the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) management met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday over the non-renewal of the Club’s licence to hold races which has disrupted the summer races schedule.

BTC chairman Y. Jagannath said that his team had a cordial meeting with the CM, who gave a patient hearing and assured that he would take a look at the file and take a suitable decision. He expressed confidence that the races would begin soon. However, other sources said that the CM was non-committal on renewing the licence at the earliest.

The Finance Department, the licensing authority for BTC, had refused to renew the licence for June. Sources indicate that the department is not keen on renewing the licence till the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe into the alleged doping scandal and alleged financial mismanagement of the Club affairs was completed.

The file has been put up for final decision before Siddaramaiah, for he is also the Finance Minister.
