The four best women’s air rifle shooters in the country — Anjum Moudgil, Apurvi Chandela, Elavenil Valarivan and Mehuli Ghosh — have all earned their berth for the World Cup Finals to be staged at Pultan, China, from November 17 to 23.
A record 14 Indians have qualified for the World Cup Finals in rifle and pistol as India had topped the medals table in each of the four World Cups in Delhi, Beijing, Munich and Rio de Janeiro. They collected 16 gold medals in all, which is also a record.
Anjum has qualified for both the air rifle and women’s rifle 3-position events. Manu Bhaker also qualified for two events, women’s air pistol and sports pistol.
The ISSF has strengthened the field to 18 in each event, instead of the traditional top-12.
