Both the Indian recurve and compound mixed teams figure in the medal rounds of the World Cup archery Stage 4 at Wroclaw in Poland.

The compound team of Abhishek Verma and Purvasha Shende will take on top seed, the U.S., in the final on Saturday while the recurve team of Deepika Kumari and Jayanta Talukdar will take on Belarus in the bronze medal play-off.

The recurve duo lost to Mexico by 3-5 set points in the semifinals on Wednesday after outplaying Egypt 6-0 and France 5-1. The compound pair defeated Russia in the tie-breaker after both teams were tied 154-154 and 19-19. Indians’ arrow was found to be closer to the centre which paved the way for the team to march into the final. Earlier, India ousted Ukraine 153(19)-153(18) in the first round and eliminated Italy 156-155 in the quarterfinals.

Deepika Kumari, in red hot form, shot six 10s in a row in making her way to the quarterfinals of the women’s recurve individual event.

The top seed won 6-0 in the pre-quarterfinals. Laishram Bombayla Devi, however, lost at this stage. In the men’s recurve, Atanu Das and Rahul Banerjee were eliminated in the pre-quarterfinals while Jayanta Talukdar and Tarundeep Rai fell in earlier rounds.

Purvasha Shende, like Deepika, showed fine form to make it to the quarterfinals of the compound individual.

Trisha Deb, however, lost in the pre-quarterfinals.

In the men’s compound, only Rajat Chauhan survived till the pre-quarterfinals. The team championship will be played on Thursday.
