A second day of action on the tract meant to service the windmills dotting the hills overlooking the Vani Vilasa Sagara Dam near here saw the script remain true in the Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare motorsports event here on Thursday.
In spite of defending champion Sandeep Sharma’s stiff challenge, competition leader Suresh Rana and his Grand Vitara had the measure of the circuit and Sandeep’s Gypsy in the Ultimate car category.
Covering the same route that was run on Wednesday albeit in the reverse direction and one loop less at two, Rana went past the finish line in 6:17:03, translating into a lead of 3:35 over Sandeep.
Jasmohan Saini maintained the top-three positions from the previous day as he finished 15:04s behind the leader.
The Ultimate bike category saw Nataraj, with a time of 5:10:49, open up a massive 41:15s lead over the second placed Febin Jose. Trailing in third a further 4:10s behind was Akash Aithal.
Meanwhile in the Endurance category, Ganesh Moorthy and navigator T. Nagarajan maintained their overall lead. The pairs of Raghu Nandan and M. Prakash and B.P. Vinay Kumar and M. Chandrashekar completed the top three positions.
