TVS Racing’s R. Nataraj will look forward to doing one better when the fifth and penultimate round of the MRF MoGrip-FMSCI National Rally Championship for two wheelers begins here on Saturday.

Nataraj had dominated the earlier rounds and is just a step away from winning the title. He knows that well and is keen on continuing the successful journey despite an injury to his elbow. “I am recovering fast and about 80% fit. So don’t count me out,” Nataraj told The Hindu over phone from Bengaluru.

Risky

It may be a risky thing to do. “I do understand, but if I don’t take part then I may lose out on points and the battle may get tight going into the final round. So I just want to go out there and complete the race,” said the 32-year-old.

Organised by the Coimbatore Auto Sports Club (CASC) and promoted by Godspeed (Pune), the event will see a mix of dirt and gravel Special Stages (SS) set around the picturesque windmill farms in Kethanur near Palladam.

Seventy-five riders have confirmed participation across nine classes that form the National championship. There is also the ‘Star of Tamil Nadu’ category exclusively for the State riders and it has attracted 12 contestants.

“CASC is pleased to host this rally once again and we thank MRF for the continued support,” said J. Prithiviraj, its honorary secretary.

Sulur MLA R. Kanagaraj will flag off the event from Hotel Gokulam Park (Chinniyampalayam) on July 28 at 5 p.m. The event will then start the next day from the Service Park at Kethanur at 9 a.m.

For details, call J. Prithiviraj (9842220003), K. Chandrasekaran (9843544242), CASC (0422 2380065) or mail to casc.cbe@gmail.com.
