Sebastian Vettel put Ferrari on pole position for the Mexican Grand Prix on Saturday with title favourite Lewis Hamilton third on the grid and poised for a fourth World Championship. The pole was the 50th of Vettel’s Formula One career but he knows the title outcome is out of his hands. Red Bull's Max Verstappen was second fastest to claim a front-row spot alongside Vettel.

Hamilton congratulated the German on his milestone. “I tried to deny him but it wasn’t to be. It was a difficult session,” said the Briton.
