BENGALURU: Pratap Jayaram (Mantra Racing) won the Indian Open class for cars at the MMSC FMSCI National Drag Racing Championship at the Taneja Aerospace facility near Bengaluru on Sunday.

Riding a fully modified Reva, Jayaram clocked 11.055 seconds for the 400 metres dash. If not for a problem with his engine, he could have clocked a faster time.

It did have an effect elsewhere, as Jayaram couldn’t enter the Unrestricted class because the vehicle couldn’t be repaired in time. Joel Joseph won the title with a timing of 11.992s.

In the Unrestricted class under Superbikes, Rizwan Khan took the honours in 9.746 seconds, just fractions ahead of Mohd Riyaz (9.898)
