Pakistan’s team arrived in India on Sunday to play in the 2018 Hockey World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar. The team will play its pool matches against Germany, Malaysia and the Netherlands from December 5.
The team’s arrival just three days before the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor for Sikh pilgrims is being interpreted as a boost for people-to-people contact.
According to a press release from the Pakistan High Commission, the team was welcomed by Pakistani diplomats and representatives of Hockey India at the Indira Gandhi International Airport as they transited to Bhubaneswar.
The team, led by Hasan Sardar and Captain Muhamad Rizwan, entered India through the crossing at Wagha-Attari border in Punjab.
