ONGC in semifinals

Five goals were scored in the last 10 minutes of a Nehru hockey Group ‘B' match between Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) and Indian Oil, here on Wednesday.

ONGC won 4-3 and with it a place in the semifinals, but not before going through some anxious moments in the second session after having trailed at the half time. Air India also made the semifinal grade despite losing 1-2 to Bharat Petroleum. Indian Oil scored in the 31st minute through Deepak Thakur. Five minutes into the second half, ONGC equalised through Gurwinder Singh Chandy. ONGC's Sandeep Antil's 60th minute to make it 2-1.

Indian Oil made it 2-2 when S. K. Uthappa scored in the 62nd minute. Three minutes later, ONGC's Pramod Kumar was on target.

Roshan Minz scored a gem of a goal in the 67th with a reverse flick for Indian Oil. Within two minutes, Tyron Perera scored the match-winner for ONGC. — Special Correspondent
