India thrashes Trinidad and Tobago

India thrashed Trinidad and Tobago 14-0 to keep its hopes alive of making the semifinals in women’s hockey at the Glasgow hockey centre late on Monday night.

Already beaten heavily in its previous matches, T&T showed little resistance. India pumped in nine goals in the first half with Vandana Katariya putting the side ahead in the fourth minute. 

Deepika Thakur and Jaspreet Kaur scored three goals each, while Rani Rampal slotted in two. Captain Ritu Rani, Anuradha Thokchom, Anupa Barla and Ritusha Arya were the other scorers.

Having lost to New Zealand earlier, India plays its crucial final league game against South Africa on Wednesday.
