Wizards end Warriors’ winning run

Table-toppers Jaypee Punjab Warriors on Wednesday suffered its first defeat in the Hockey India League (HIL) 2015 after going down 2-1 against Uttar Pradesh Wizards at the Dhyan Chand Sports College here.

V.R. Raghunath and Ramandeep Singh scored for the winner while captain Jamie Dwyer reduced the margin.

Wizards are now second with 19 points while Warriors still lead the table with 23 points.

The result: Uttar Pradesh Wizards 2 (V.R. Raghunath 7, Ramandeep Singh 9) bt Jaypee Punjab Warriors 1 (Jamie Dwyer 52).
