Germany goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler has been suspended for a match after being red-carded in Germany’s 3-1 midweek defeat against Argentina.

The Hanover 96 goalkeeper was sent off on the half hour for a last-man foul, but will only have to serve the suspension in a friendly game.

Germany’s next matches are World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Austria in September and Zieler will be available for both.

The 23-year-old will miss Germany’s friendly international against the Netherlands in November.

Zieler’s suspension was issued by the sports court of the German football federation, as they are responsible for sanctioning players sent off during friendly matches.
