Amidst the growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Indian football, All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel has agreed to meet the I-League clubs on July 3. The AIFF’s executive committee meeting, initially scheduled for the same day, has now been postponed to July 9.
AIFF general-secretary Kushal Das’ letter to the club owners on Saturday afternoon said: “This is to inform you that a meeting with representatives of I-League clubs with the President of AIFF has been fixed for July 3.”
It may be noted that the I-League clubs had requested a meeting with Praful, once before the beginning of the season and once before the Super Cup, but the meetings did not take place.
It is expected that the roadmap of the I-League and the structure of Indian football will be discussed during the meeting as reports have suggested the AIFF is considering making the cash-rich Indian Super League (ISL) as the top division.
