March 14, 2012 01:48 am | Updated 01:48 am IST - CHENNAI:

Pepsi has come forward to launch a T20 football event which promises to ‘change the game' under a revolutionary mega league format that will link various cities in the country.

The matches will be organised in cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow, Ludhiana and New Delhi. The event is for amateurs between 14 and 30 years in seven-a-side teams. It is proposed to have 64 teams from each city in what will be a 20-minute knock-out event in the initial phase.

Each city's final will be held in a “unique metallic cage at a public venue with music, fun and Pepsi,” a release said.

The winning team from each city, apart from a wildcard entrant, will then compete to pick the overall winner which will be the “Game changers”.

This team will get the opportunity to be coached by an international football star before they face the Indian Cricket Stars in what is to be a grand finale, the press release said.

The initial process of registration of teams begins in Chennai on Wednesday. For details on the rules, regulations, registration venues, etc., log on to >www.facebook.com/pepsiindia or
