Langsning FC edges past KGF

Yinka Joel Sunday gave Langsning FC of Meghalaya a 1-0 victory over KGF Academy, Bangalore in Group 3 of the second division I-League at the Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Friday. Sunday scored in the 22nd minute.

The victory gave Langsning 10 points from four matches while the Bangalore side is still searching for its first point.

In another match, Mumbai's PIFA Colaba and Delhi's Simla Youngs were locked 1-1. Both the goals were penalty conversions. First it was the Delhi team's Badru Keke Ibrahim who converted in the fifth minute and PIFA's Clifford Garrett neutralised the lead in the 17th. Simla Youngs has logged five points from four matches, while PIFA has two from four outings.

Ar-Hima FC of Meghalaya registered its second victory in three matches downing Eagles FC from Kerala 4-0 in Group 1 at Silchar. Ar-Hima has now seven points from three games while Eagles lost its fourth straight game. Assam's Green Valley held Aizawl FC goalless. This was Aizawl's fourth match and its first draw. For Valley this was the third straight draw.

In a battle of heavyweights, Royal Wahingdoh of Meghalaya held Kalighat Milan Sangha of Kolkata 1-1 in a Group 2 league match at Cuttack. The draw lifted Kalighat to 10 points from three wins and a draw while Wahingdoh reached eight points from two wins and two draws.

In the other game, local side Samaleshwari SC defeated Gauhati Town Club 3-1 to register its first win.

The results: At Silchar (Group 1): Ar-Hima FC bt Eagles FC 4-0; Green Valley drew with Aizawl FC 0-0. At Cuttack (Group 2): Samleshwari SC bt Gauhati Town Club 3-1; Royal Wahingdoh FC drew with Kalighat MS 1-1. At Delhi (Group 3): PIFA Colaba drew with Simla Youngs 1-1; Langsning FC bt KGF Academy 1-0.
