Veteran Germany international Miroslav Klose believes he is capable of playing at the top level for a further two years after the World Cup.

“With my fitness as it is at the moment, I really believe I can play another two years at a high level,” Klose told the Sueddeutsche Zeitung in an interview.

Klose is Germany’s joint all-time leading scorer on 68 goals, tied with Gerd Mueller, and has 130 caps for his country.

In summer Klose’s current contract with Italian side Lazio will expire and the future remains open. He may stay in Rome but has also been linked with a move to the United States or a return to previous club Kaiserslautern.

“Speculation doesn’t bring anything but I’m certain that I still want to play at the highest level.”
