Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a 90th-minute penalty as a scrappy north-London derby against Tottenham Hotspur ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Hugo Lloris got down low to keep out the substitute’s poor kick and rescue a below-par Tottenham, which had equalised in the 74th minute through Harry Kane’s spot-kick.

Arsenal, bidding to close the gap to its arch-rivals to one point, had taken the lead in the 16th minute when Aaron Ramsey broke clear after a mistake by Davinson Sanchez.

Alexandre Lacazette had wasted a good chance to make it 2-0 to Arsenal, but it was the man who replaced him, Aubameyang, who cost his side victory with a poorly-struck penalty after Sanchez was adjudged to have fouled him.

South Korea striker Ji Dong-won netted twice against his former club Borussia Dortmund as the league leader suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Augsburg on Friday to stumble again in the Bundesliga title race.

The result is a blow for Dortmund as it tries to overturn a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday when it hosts Tottenham Hotspur in the return leg of its Champions League last 16 tie.

Dortmund now has just one win in its last seven matches in all competitions.

It has also dropped nine points in its last five league games.

The results: Premier League: Tottenham 1 (Kane 74-pen) drew with Arsenal 1 (Ramsey 16).

La Liga: Espanyol 3 (Iglesias 1, Hermoso 55, Wu Lei 65) bt Real Valladolid 1 (Alcaraz 17).

On Friday: Bundesliga: Augsburg 2 (Ji 24, 68) bt Borussia Dortmund 1 (Alcacer 81).

Serie A: Cagliari 2 (Ceppitelli 31, Pavoletti 43) bt Inter Milan 1 (Martinez 38).

La Liga: Rayo Vallecano 0 lost to Girona 2 (Stuani 30, 85) .
