Jamshedpur FC moved back into the playoff zone with a 2-1 over a spirited Delhi Dynamos in a 12th round match of the Hero ISL at the JRD Tata Sports Complex here on Wednesday.

A goal each from Tim Cahill and Farukh Choudhary on either side of the break helped the host record its third win at home, and fourth overall, to climb up the table. Delhi had found the lead early on in the opening half through Lallianzuala Chhangte.

Jamshedpur, with 19 points from 12 games, rose above Goa (17 from 10 matches) to the fourth spot. Delhi, which suffered its seventh defeat, Delhi continued to languish at the bottom with four points from 11 outings.

Unfortunate

Delhi was quick off the blocks and Adria Carmona was unlucky to find his powerful drive from around 22 yards rattling the crosspiece in the very first minute. JFC goalkeeper Subrata Paul was completely beaten as Carmona sneaked on top of the host’s box for the attempt. Delhi suffered a blow in the 14th minute when Carmona was stretched off after an injury.

Continuing to attack, Delhi got rewarded for its efforts in the 25th minute when Narayan Das essayed the ball square from the left to Mihelic. The Slovenian midfielder found Chhangte who drove home an angular left-footer past Paul.

Jamshedpur, stirred by the setback, pressed for the equaliser and found the target off a set-piece in the 29th minute. Cahill scored his second goal of the season, nodding home a corner from Carlos Calvo.

The host took control after the break, making the most of a corner. The ball was cleared but reached Farukh at the top of the box. The JFC striker let fly a scorcher through the top corner, giving Dehli goalkeeper Albino Gomes no chance.

The result: Jamshedpur FC 2 (Tim Cahill 29, Farukh Choudhury 61) bt Delhi Dynamos 1 (Lallianzuala Chhangte 25).
