Former Indian football player D. Nataraj passed way in Kolar on Thursday. He was 78. Nataraj was part of the National side which won the bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok. He played for India for nearly a decade and was also a vice-captain.

Representing the erstwhile Mysore state, Nataraj was a key member of the Santosh Trophy-winning side in 1968 and scored the winner in the final against West Bengal. In 1970, he was the captain when Mysore finished runner-up to Punjab. He also captained HAL and was a league champion with the side. The KSFA and BDFA condoled his death.
