Chennaiyin FC (CFC) tasted victory for the first time in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2018 season, roaring back from a goal down to win 4-2 against FC Pune City (FCPC) at the Balewadi stadium on Tuesday. The three points pushed the defending champion to eighth place.

FCPC went ahead through Ashique Kuruniyan’s ninth-minute strike, a clinical finish off a pass from Robin Singh. The visitors struck in the second-half with Mailson Alves equalising with a header in the 53rd.

Two minutes later, Gregory Nelson completed the comeback. Inigo Calderon and Thoi Singh scored to put CFC 4-1 up.

Jonathan Vila’s late goal was a small consolation for the bottom-placed host.

The result: FC Pune City 2 (Ashique Kuruniyan 9, Jonathan Vila 90) lost to Chennaiyin FC 4 (Mailson Alves 53, Gregory Nelson 56, Ingo Calderon 69, Thoi Singh 72).
