Newcastle said Alan Pardew has been hired as the Premier League club’s manager.

Pardew, who replaces Chris Hughton, has signed a 5-year deal with the northeast club.

Pardew was fired as manager of second-tier team Southampton in August. He has also previously managed West Ham and Charlton.

Hughton was fired by Newcastle on Monday despite leading the club back into the Premier League and into 11th place in the table.
