Spanish giants Real Madrid announced on Thursday that Kaka will be out for up to four months, after undergoing an emergency operation on his left knee.
Kaka, 28, left Real’s training camp in Los Angeles early on Thursday for Antwerp, where specialist Marc Martens carried out an operation to remove damaged cartilage from his left knee.
The Brazilian playmaker underwent a similar operation on the same knee in May 2008, when he played for AC Milan.
When told that Kaka will be out of action until November, Real coach Jose Mourinho said that “he is a player well loved by his companions and, also, he is very good.
“But we want him to be a hundred per cent so that he is happy. If we have to lose him for a certain time it will not be a drama, we have other players and that is all there is to it.”
Kaka missed a large part of last season, his first at Real, because of a mysterious pubis injury.
