FIFA suspends two officials from World Cup voting

November 18, 2010 04:01 pm | Updated 04:09 pm IST - ZURICH

FIFA has suspended Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii from the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting vote after completing a corruption investigation.

FIFA’s ethics court suspended Adamu from all football activity for three years and Temarii for one year. They have a right to appeal.

Both were investigated after being secretly filmed appearing to offer their votes for sale to British undercover reporters. Bid candidates Qatar and Spain-Portugal were cleared of colluding to share votes.

FIFA’s ethics committee found no evidence to prove claims of a seven-vote pact published by The Sunday Times newspaper last month. The World Cup secret ballot will proceed on December 2 in Zurich with 22 FIFA voters and nine candidates.
