Bus drivers strike leaves WC fans stranded

Fans trying to get to the Netherlands-Denmark World Cup game in Johannesburg on Monday were left stranded as dozens of drivers of a new public bus system embarked on a wildcat strike.

The drivers of the bus rapid-transit (BRT) system said they no longer wanted to provide World Cup transport services and wanted to strike out on their own, The Citizen newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The operator of the bus put in place contingency plans to get fans to the game using rail and park-and-ride facilities.
