India captain M.S. Dhoni said it was disappointing to be outplayed by Bangladesh in the first two One-Day Internationals.
“It is very disappointing, but one needs to find out what the reason is. We were outplayed in both matches and we did not score enough runs on a decent wicket,” said Dhoni at the post-match press conference.
Asked whether he was enjoying his captaincy any more, Dhoni said if he was removed and that would help the team, he would step away and perform as a player.
Dhoni said he wouldn’t mind taking full responsibility for the debacle. “Till I am in the firing line and nobody is getting shot, I don’t mind. If I can take the pressure off any individual, I will be happy doing it.”
Dhoni said one should be patient in finding a new coach. “It is better to take time to find a good coach. If you just pick someone for the coach’s job, it would have a bad impact in the longer run.” He added that he had some plans to take the team forward in the coming years.
The skipper was all praise for young Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman. “He is a good bowler who is exploiting the conditions well. His hand-speed is good, and there is no difference between the slower delivery and the normal one. The slower ball travels to the ’keeper, something which does not happen in the case of the other pacers.”
