Sometimes, failure brings the best out of a fighter. Krunal Pandya showed how on a warm summer night at the Holkar Cricket Stadium here.
Having failed to lead MI’s chase against RCB in Bengaluru a few days ago, Krunal blasted 31 off just 12 balls to help MI beat KXIP with six wickets and as many balls to spare here on Friday.
“I was disappointed that I could not deliver when I was presented with a similar opportunity in the last match at Bengaluru; we had needed about 60 runs in the last five overs,” he said shortly after his heroics.
“That motivated me; I wanted to win this game for my team.”
The scores: Kings XI Punjab 174 for six in 20 overs (K.L. Rahul 24, C. Gayle 50, M. Stoinis 29 n.o.) lost to Mumbai Indians 176 for four in 19 overs (Suryakumar 57, I. Kishan 25, Krunal 31 n.o.).
